“And David danced before the Lord with all his might, wearing a priestly garment.” 2 Samuel 6:14
“One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple.” Psalm 27:4
“And in the eleventh year, in the month of Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished in all its details and according to all its plans. So he was seven years in building it. Solomon also built a palace for himself, and it took him thirteen years to complete the construction. 1 Kings 6:38-7:1
“Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.”Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’”
If passion drives you, let reason hold the reins. Benjamin Franklin
Passion rebuilds the world for the youth. It makes all things alive and significant. Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Why did I emphasize those Scriptures? It’s because:
1) Passion always aims for something
In my post what is your dream, ambition, goal, aspiration? I talked about the importance of doing what you love. Here I’ll be concentrating on why it is vital. Have you ever seen someone passionate for something they weren’t sure was right for them? They knew exactly what they wanted.
2 Passion maintains its course
James 1:5-8 in short states that, “Once you know what you want, stick to it!” There is difference between someone who is excited about doing something and someone who is passionate about it. The excited one can always be excited about something else. The passionate one cannot! Think about Michael Jordan in the sports section and Mark Zuckerberg in the social media section.
3) Passion redefines the word “persistence”
It never gives up. No matter what. In fact you can tell you’re passionate about something not only because you love it so much but also because you stop at nothing to keep improving in it, despite your opposition. Think about what you’ve given you’re all to achieve.
4) Passion has a game plan for bad times
This plan is prepared for in the good times so that the length of the bad experiences is decreased. Similar to someone who prepares for bad weather so that things don’t turn out haf as bad as an unprepared person.
5) Passion takes advantage of opportunities
My favourite saying is, “It’s better to prepare for an opportunity and not have one, than to have an opportunity and not be prepared for it.” In fact, the truth is, passion opens the door for opportunities! This is why passionate people are able to recognize them so easily! It’s not that they look for them. They don’t. They are able to see them.
6) Passion has a teachable spirit
No one who desires to advance in the knowledge and practice of their craft does not seek out assistance from those who already are where they want to be. Life is journey of learning, because that never stops!
7) Passion will allow you to do things that ordinary people wouldn’t do
Have you ever been told that the thing you yearn to do can be done but not by you!? How it’s crazy, or if you’re progressing, how you’re bound to fail somewhere down the line? If you’re answer is “yes” to any of those questions, then you’re a prime example of the title of this point. You’re also a candidate of an uncommon achiever. Be chuffed with the jealousy. They can never see themselves doing what you’re doing. Quitters never understand the mind of winners!
Discovering your passion
The easiest way to do this is by first reading the plan of action for your dream:writing it down! If you haven’t yet, be sure to read the post I mentioned above after you’ve read the one I just suggested. Then come back to this post and think about whether or not what you say is your passion is what you can see yourself doing at least for a straight 10 years if not all your life.
What is your passion if you already know it?
