“Never give someone “all your love”–Save it for the Lord Above.”
“You can’t love God without having faith in Him, & you certainly can’t have faith in Him without loving Him.”
Luke 10:27 is a reference that talks about the two greatest commandments. Loving God first then loving your neighbour next.
Love works together in speech and action. One cannot say that they love someone without demonstrating that love. In the same way, that love cannot be demonstrated without the full support of words that will compliment the action.
Imagine a husband telling his wife he loves her but doesn’t often act on or show her the extent of love he has by fulfilling the love language. It may work to certain extent but love always shows and expresses itself best in action. Now if that same husband proves his love more often than telling her why, she might, in most cases, be confused because she is ignorant of the complete reason for his being so nice. Even if she does completely know why, she’ll never tire of hearing the three-word, eight letter phrase!
How much joy would the Father have to know that His children love Him and demonstrate that as much as they could!? This is the essence of loving God and your neighbour.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart”. In the heart lies passion and desire. Love Him passionately and desire more of Him (Psalm 103:1)
“”And with all your soul” In here lies the mind, will and emotions. Love Him with all you are and every breath in your body. Sing praises to Him (Psalm 150:6).
“And with all your mind” Meditate (focus your mind on) the Word and study it. Understand all scriptures in context (Joshua 1:9; Psalm 1:2-3). Renew your mind through repentance and setting it on things above, that is, on Christ (Romans 12:2; Phil 4:8; Col 3:2; 2 Tim 2:15, 3:16).
“And your neighbour as yourself” Jesus says, “love your enemies, do good to those that hate you, bless those that curse you, pray for those who persecute you” and “…lend hoping for nothing in return” (Luke 6:27, 35).
Matt 7:12 “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets”.
Love is the main force that governs everything and the power behind the kingdom.
Love and action are inseparable.
